“Your Card Has been Declined” — Sermon and Worship of August 23, 2020

A reading from Psalm 103:1-5:

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
   bless his holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and do not forget all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your iniquity,
   who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the Pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good as long as you live*
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

L:         The Word of God.                  P:        Thanks be to God.

A Reading from The Gospel of Luke 11:1-4:

Jesus was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.’ 2He said to them, ‘When you pray, say:
Father, hallowed be your name.
   Your kingdom come.
3   Give us each day our daily bread.
4   And forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us.
And do not bring us to the time of trial.’

L:   This is the Good News.          P:        Praise be to you, O Christ.
