And Simeon said, “For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples.” (Luke 2:30-31).

Dear Friends and Members of Emmanuel Church,
It’s a beautiful, snowy morning on God’s hill!
We had a great, bang up Christmas Eve with lots of enthusiasm! For those who were part of it, thank you! For those who supported the ministry of Emmanuel Church with your prayers and financial support this past year, thank you! We are making a difference in the life of so many people . . . . and it all starts right here on God’s hill.
As 2016 crawls to its close, we are still listening for God’s faithful voice at Hill’s Church. On New Year’s Day, January 1, we will ring in the new year with a worship service at 10:15 a.m. which will highlight Jesus’ parents bringing him to the Temple for a dedication 8 days after he was born. Not familiar with the story and with Simeon? Check it out in the Gospel of Luke 2:25-35.
On Sunday we will light for the first time a new Candle of Remembrance in honor of Military/Veterans/First Responders/Police officers. It will be lit every Sunday and if you have a special person in your life who fits any one of those categories and would like to light it in his or her honor, please contact the church office or the pastor.
The schedule remains pretty light after New Year but we are looking ahead!
January 8th will be our Epiphany Sunday, which recalls the arrival of the Wise Men to worship Jesus. Communion will be served and the new members of Consistory will be installed.
January 15th is Messy Church. “Ring in the New Year” and the theme will be bells. Food will be served. And a new way of worshipping God will be experienced. Come at 5, eat supper with your friends, and be refreshed.
Prayer (Blanket) Angels will meet Sunday, January 22 at 2 p.m.
On the Journey,
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Joseph
