Dear friends and members of Emmanuel Church,
This Sunday is the Second Sunday of Advent. The church is all decorated. The choir has prepared Advent anthems and the sermon is based on Luke 3 (John the Baptist) and called “Flash Crash.” Worship is at 10:15 a.m.
After worship, we have the annual Christmas party. Bring a dish to passand if you want your child to get a present from St. Nicholas, bring it wrapped and labled with your child’s name. Carols and other surprises will be there!
Sunday afternoon is a very special event for the Westmoreland Association. Valarie Poole will be commissioned as Minister of Faith Formation at First Reformed United Church of Christ, 312 S. Maple Avenue, Greensburg, PA at 3:00 p.m. If you would like to attend talk to Pastor Joseph.
Monday night December 7 is Choir Practice.
Tuesday morning is Bible Study at 10 a.m. We are studying the Gospel of Mark.
Wednesday, December 9th is Consistory.
On Thursday December 10, the Program Committee is attending the Holiday Market at Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh. We will leave the church at 10 a.m., stop somewhere for lunch and be home by early afternoon. Talk to Pastor Joseph if you need a ride.
Next Sunday: December 13 is the Third Sunday of Advent. We will assemble fruit baskets for the retirement home residents and after worship will be acongregational meeting for the purpose of electing 2016 officers for Consistory.
Looking ahead: Confirmation Class meets Decmeber 13 and December 27 at 6 p.m.
Christmas Eve Service is at 7 p.m. The service will include candles, communion, and participation by the children. If you would like your children to participate, plan on meeting December 20th after worship for practice of about one hour with Pastor Joseph and Heather Clark.
