Good morning friends and members of Emmanuel Church,

This Sunday is our First Sunday of the month. Worship is at 10:15 a.m. and the sermon is “Prayer Chain” based on John 17:1-11.  After worship, we will celebrate our June birthdays and anniversaries in the Steele Building.

Thursday, June 5 is our meeting to plan Vacation Bible School at 7 p.m.  Our theme this year is Bible heroes.  See below for more details..

June 8 is Pentecost Sunday–  where we celebrate the gift of God’s Holy Spirit.  Wear red that Sunday, the traditional color of the Holy Spirit.  We will also be taking the Strengthen the Church Offering on June.  Info about this offering was in your June Newsletter or you can find more information at the UCC Website here.

Father’s Day Dinner is June 14th  at 5:30 p.m. sponsored by the Women’s Guild.  Please see Linda Dulaney if you can help.  We really need help cleaning up afterward!

Sunday June 15th is a special summer worship in the Dining Hall Downstairs.  It is an informal service with a  Continental Breakfast.  If you would like to bring some fruit, juice, donuts, please talk to me.  Time is 10:15 a.m.

STC-2014-Emblem-lgSunday, June 29th is our 194th Annual Homecoming Worship with Communion.  The sermon will be based on Matthew 10:40-42 and I will be presenting information about my trip to the United Church of Christ in the Philippines.

From the Wider Church:  This weekend is the Annual Meeting of the Penn West Conference in Johnstown, PA.  At this meeting, the pastors and delegates will be voting on calling a new candidate as Conference Minister.  That candidate is known to many of us, Rev. David Ackerman, a Murrysville native.  Here’s more information.  I would ask for your prayers for Rev. Ackerman and for the meeting this weekend.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Joseph
