Weekly Update–May 24, 2013

Good morning friends and members of Emmanuel Church,

First off this morning, Congratulations to Bethany and Eric Carroll, whose daughter, Molly Mae was born on Wednesday at 5:59 a.m. at McGee Hospital! We should also note that Molly’s cousin, Willow Brooke Lucas, was born on Friday the 17th in Monroeville. So, lots of celebrating around the King-Carroll-Lucas bunch! Blessings to all.

Sunday is Trinity Sunday and Memorial Day Sunday. The scripture is Romans 5:1-5 and the sermon title is “Old School.” At the end of the service, we will close with a prayer at the War Memorial.

Export’s Community Memorial Day observance will stop at Emmanuel’s Cemetery around 9 a.m. Monday Morning with a short ceremony.

Tuesday is Bible Study at 10 a.m.

On June 1, the Women’s Guild is sponsoring a Father’s Day chicken dinner for Fathers and their children/families. The time is 5:30 p.m. Cost is adults 7 dollars. Children 6-11 4 dollars and children under five are free. You can call Linda Dulaney or the Church office to reserve a spot!

On June 2 is our MOOK small Group Bible Study at Denmark Manor United Church of Christ at 6 p.m. We’re excited about this because there are several congregations involved in the study and we hope to rotate locations. The theme for June 2nd is: What is your story?

Please pray for those who travel this weekend and reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day this weekend.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Joseph

We are humbled by the awesome power of this moment.
From our lives God has brought forth life.
Through our love we have fashioned a child of love.
May our child be a blessing to all she meets.
And may she count us among her blessings as well.
