Hi Friends and Members of Emmanuel Church,
We have a great weekend coming up–and lots of things to do as we approach Thanksgiving and (can it be already?) the Holiday Season.
Veterans’ Day–Sunday is Worship at 10:15 a.m. We will have a special piece of music from the Bell Choir and the sermon is based on the book of Ruth. The sermon title is: “Restoration” and the figure of Ruth in the Bible is a story of restoration amidst deep troubles. If you are feeling a little blue or down, this sermon may have a word for you!
Sunday is also our St. Martin’s Day Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. This is an exciting event that we get from our German Churches. St. Martin’s Day is an evening holiday, full of sweets, hot chocolate, German food, etc. Bring a dish to pass. There will be games and pony rides for the kids. Also, bring a flashlight! A major part of St. Martin’s Day is a home-made nighttime parade!
We are collecting until November 18th for the Food Bank. Please bring a non-perishable item to the church for our Thanksgiving Food Bank Offering. If you would like to donate for Hurricane Sandy relief, as several of our folks already have, you may make your check out to the Penn West Conference and send it to the church office. We will forward it from there.
Next Week: Choir is Monday at 7 p.m.
Tuesday is Bible Study a0 a.m. (the Book of Jeremiah) and at 1 p.m., a Service in Remembrance of Molly Moose at Redstone, for those who could not make it to the service in town.
Wednesday night is Consistory at 7 p.m.
Thursday is Newsletter Deadline and Bell Choir Practice at 6:30 p.m.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Joseph
