Good morning friends and members of Emmanuel Church,
Today is All Saints’ Day. According to the Bible (Ephesians 4:12), the saints
are the people who belong to the Church, the body of Christ. So, today we
remember all of the saints–those currently living but also our grandparents,
parents, those who have gone before us into heaven. On Sunday, we will have a
special service of Remembrance for All Saints at 10:15 a.m. We
will remember by name the saints we have said goodbye to in the last 12 months.
It is a time for remembrance for us all as well. There will be communion and a
sermon relating to heaven entitled, “First Things.”
On Saturday, November 3, a day earlier, we will be having a busy day at church. PA Cleanways meets at 9 a.m. to clear Hills Church Road from our property to Old
William Penn in Export. Volunteers are appreciated. In the main level of the
Steele Building from 9 to 3 is the Blood Drive in partnership with the Central
Blood Bank. The lower level of the Steele Building will host a U.S. Military
Meeting from 11 to 2.
Don’t forget that November is Food Drive Month! Bring in some non-perishables that will be donated to the Westmoreland County Food Bank.
Next Sunday: November 11th is St. Martin Day from 6 to 8 p.m.. The traditional
St. Martin Day will have pony rides, songs, German food and German games and a
few surprises! In Germany, St. Martin’s Day is the kick-off of the “Holiday
Season.” If you can bring a dish to pass, please sign up on the office door!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Joseph
