Weekly Update–August 31, 2012

Hello Friends at Emmanuel Church,

First off, have a safe and happy holiday weekend. And for those to whom it
applies, I hope everyone is having a good return to school.

Sunday’s worship will be a service of Holy Communion. The sermon is from Mark 7
entitled: “The Greatest Revolution.”

At the request of several people we will be starting a Sunday School Class for
adults on September 9th at 9 a.m. called “Confirmation for Adults.” This is a
class where we go through what you might have learned at 12 or 13 years old at
confirmation class but looking back, those questions have more meaning to you
personally (“What happens when we die?”, “What does it mean to say that Jesus’
blood saves me from sin?” and so on). This class will be led by Ryan Lucas and
Pastor Joseph.

Bible Study will resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11th at 10 a.m. We
will be looking at the Book of Acts.

Emmanuel’s Boy Scout Troop invites family and friends to a flag retirement
ceremony at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11th. Please share this information
with anyone who may need to replace their flags per proper U.S. flag etiquette.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Joseph

“Ye hear how kindly He invites;
Ye hear His words so blest:
“All ye that labour come to me,
And I will give you rest.’

O Jesus, joy of saints on high,
Thou hope of sinners here,
Attracted by those loving words,
To Thee I lift my prayer.” –Edward Caswall, 1871.
