Weekly Update–August 24th, 2012

Good morning friends and members of Emmanuel Church,

First off, a great big thank you for a wonderful week of Vacation Bible School!
All the volunteers and children deserve a big round of applause for the really
well done program and the fun we all had. The talent show on Wednesday was
fantastic! Again, thanks to everyone for the time and we will have a follow up
meeting to discuss ideas and evaluations in the very near future.

Sunday is worship at 10:15. As part of the service, we will have a special
blessing of the backpacks‘ for back to school. This will be during the
children’s time.

Sunday evening is MOOK (Meaningfully Obeying Our King)–6:30 p.m. We will meet
at church at 6:30 and have a light supper before heading out to a local park for
the lesson. Please talk to me if you are interested in attending.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Joseph

Dear Lord,
As children start school again this year,
we pray that you will watch them in your care.
Send your Holy Spirit to open their minds
to all that is true and beautiful and good.
Help them to see the gifts and talents
you have given them and to use them well.
Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom.
Help them to be kind to others
and lead others be kind to them.
Give their teachers patience and understanding
and help them teach what is just and true.
Send your angels to guide and guard children
and to keep them from all harm.
Open their young hearts to your presence
and enfold them in your peace and protection.
Hold them in the palm of your hand
and bring them home safely at day’s end.
Amen.–
