Good morning friends and members of Emmanuel Reformed Church,
As we were talking about last night at the Ash Wednesday service, Lent has begun. And during Lent I will be focusing on two things for the duration that will help people with their spirituality:
1. People want an authentic, sincere relationship with Jesus Christ and
2. People want to know how to get from here (the dust and mire of earth) to there (God’s holiness), in terms of practical ministry.
Toward these goals:
This Sunday we’ll launch a sermon series “The Power of Kingdom Living” which will dig deeper into these two topics. The scripture lesson is not a familiar one: 1 Kings 22. So, I’m encouraging folks to bring their Bibles. There are
Bibles in the pews as well.
Sunday night from 6:30 to 8:30 is our six series session of the Emmanuel
Emergent Experience. This is a small group meeting with Bible Study, snacks and
discussion. The main question is: Who is Jesus? But we will be looking at the
two goals above in our discussion. Ryan Lucas is hosting us–and we’re looking
for hosts for the next five sessions.
Tuesday is Bible Study at 10 a.m. We’ve just started the book of Acts.
Wednesday Night we will have our mid-Lenten Series with the Northern
Westmoreland Cluster Churches. We meet at Denmark Manor at 7:30 p.m. The theme
is “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Blessings.
