Weekly Update–Thursday, November 17, 2011

Hello Friends of Emmanuel Reformed Church,

Tomorrow night is a Family Friendly Movie Night at the church at 7 p.m. The
movie we are watching will be “Soul Surfer” and snacks will be provided. So,
come on over to the church and kick your shoes off and relax.

Thanks to everyone who has been bringing in Food Items for the Food Bank! The
United Church of Christ nationally, as well as Hills Church locally, were able
to surpass their goals to feed the hungry this November!!! Thank you! Thank
you! Thank you! Please keep the donations coming. This Sunday is the last
Sunday to turn items in before Thanksgiving.

Sunday’s Worship is Thanksgiving Sunday/our Annual Remembrance Sunday, also called Totenfest, of the
Members of Hills Church who have died in the previous 12 months. This will be a
moving service for all involved.

Tuesday, November 22 is Bible Study.

The Church office is Closed on Thursday and Friday due to the Thanksgiving
Holiday.

Saturday, November 26th is the Hanging of the Greens in the morning at 10 a.m.
Sunday, November 27th is the First Sunday in Advent. Worship will be at 10:15
a.m. And Emmanuel’s Emergent Advent Service will be at 6:30 p.m. with a free
light soup supper at 5:30 p.m.

In the Name of God, Amen. We whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread sovereign Lord, King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, etc.

Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God, and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic, for our better ordering and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute and frame such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions and offices, from time to time as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the Colony: unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at Cape Cod the 11 of November, in the year of the reign of our sovereign Lord, King James of England, France and Ireland the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth Ano. Dom. 1620.
