Good Afternoon friends of Emmanuel Church,
Saturday morning is the PA Cleanways–we will meet at the church parking lot at
9 a.m. to clean Hill’s Church Road from the church down to Old William Penn
Highway. We should be finished by mid-morning.
Sunday’s Worship at 10:15 deals with the parable of the Wedding Banquet, a
challenging parable of Jesus dealing with judgment–Matthew 22:1-14. The sermon
title is “Regrets Only.” As a mission project, we are collecting woolens (hats,
mittens, scarves, etc) for the Salvation Army. Following worship, many of us
will go to Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church on Old William Penn Highway for
the CROP Walk, which begins at 1:30.
Next week is Columbus Day on Monday, with Cherub Choir at 6:45 p.m. and adult
choir at 7. Tuesday is Bible Study at 10 a.m.–we are studying Deuteronomy
Chapter 5–the Ten Commandments. Wednesday night is Consistory at 7 p.m.
October 16 is the Noisy Collection day, when the children walk through the pews
to collect your change for a mission project (Living Waters, Lancaster Seminary
and so on).
Saturday, October 22 is our tour of St. Vincent Gristmill. If you are interested
in the tour, please contact me.
October 28–is our all ages Halloween Party from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. All are
invited! Come in costume.
Sunday, October 30: At 6:30 on the 30th, we will have our “Emmanuel’s Emergent
Experience.” The Service is titled “Life-con” based on Colossians 3:4, “Christ,
who is Our Life.” If you have lost someone and would like to remember them,
bring an item or photograph that reminds you of them. We will then create a
‘Living Icon’ in the worship space. The Service will end with a Candlelight
procession to the graveyard.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Joseph
