Thursday Morning Update–April 14

Dear Friends of Emmanuel Church,

Tonight is the MOOK (Meaningfully Obeying Our King) Discussion Group at Norwalk Daily Grind! We meet at 7 and talk about our faith, our week, our job, our
church or whatever is on our minds. It’s really an intersection of faith and life. I hope you can join us!

Sunday is Palm Sunday. The Choir will be presenting the cantata “Alive!” By Joe E. Parks at 10:15 a.m. The Easter Egg Hunt will follow Worship for children under 12 We’re forgoing the regular format for Sunday, so the Sermon message
comes from the Cantata’s songs and lessons. There was a really great preview
last night at the Lenten Service. I hope you will be there to support the
choir.

Next week is Holy Week. Maundy Thursday service begins with a light supper at
6:30 and service following. As is our custom, this will be a more informal
service held in the Steele Building around tables. The Service will be based on
the Bible, particularly the book of Revelation and a very old worship service
from about the year 200 A.D. There was a lot of symbolic meaning behind
communion back then and we hope to connect some of the dots for you.

Friday night at 7:30 is the Good Friday Worship Service. We will remember the
death of Jesus for our Salvation.

Easter Sunday finds us celebrating 3 times–6:30 a.m. is the time for our
ecumenical Sunrise Service.

8:00 a.m. is the First Service of Easter in the Sanctuary and I am going to let
the painting behind the altar preach the message which is titled “Glory in the
Garden.”

10:15 is the Second Service of Easter and the sermon will be called “They were
afraid for . . . ” Both 8 & 10:15 will have communion.

Blessings to you.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Joseph
