Weekly Update–March 3, 2011

Dear Friends at Emmanuel Reformed Church,

Wishing you many blessings as we approach Lent.

First, you voted and the tally is in: On March 13th, the multi-media sermon is
going to be “Storm Front Coming: The Bible in the Music of Johnny Cash.”
Following worship and the coffee hour that Sunday, everyone is invited to the
sanctuary for a MOOK (Meaningfully Obeying Our King)-sponsored event: “How to
connect with God.” I hope that you will be enriched by this special service.

Tomorrow is a special day for Hills Church. At 1 p.m., we are hosting the World
Day of Prayer. The World Day of Prayer is a 24 hour period where Christian men
and women from all over the globe take time out of their schedules to give honor
and glory to God. It’s special that we are the hosts this year and we have
participation from other churches in the Murrysville/Export area. If you would
like to bring something simple for refreshment, great! If you’d like to just
come along and take a moment to pray in the midst of a busy week, fantastic!
And finally, if your schedule doesn’t permit your attendance please add the
event to your prayer concerns.

Sunday is Transfiguration Sunday, when Christians remember Jesus’ ascent up the
mountainside to pray with Elijah and Moses. Worship will deal with this theme
this Sunday at 10:15. As it is the first Sunday of the month, we will also be
sharing communion. After worship is our covered dish that we have on the first
Sunday of the month and Chris Ericson is planning some “Mardi Gras” surprises
for us! So plan to come and celebrate this time of year.

This upcoming week is a busy one: Consistory meets on Tuesday, March 8th at 7
p.m. Ash Wednesday is the official start of Lent at 7:30 p.m. here at Emmanuel
Reformed. Thursday is MOOK at 7 p.m. at the Norwalk Daily Grind. Saturday,
March 12th is the all Church Family Fun Day Here at the Church.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Joseph
