I hope everyone is enjoying the snow???? The church parking lot is plowed and the sidewalks will be cleared by Sunday. Sorry we had to cancel last Sunday, but there would have been no place for you to park. This Sunday we will repeat last Sunday except for the snow. There will be Communion and instead of a covered dish lunch there will be the Sweetheart Dinner. All you have to bring is a desert.
The Program Committee is planning an afternoon at Franklin Regional High School for their production of the musical “Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat”. Many will remember last year’s musical was a very professional production. There is a sign up sheet of the office door. We need to know how many tickets to purchase by February 21st. Cost of tickets are $10, which is a real value.
We had to postpone Consistory yesterday until Tuesday, Feb. 16th.
The Lenten Season begins on Ash Wednesday, February 17th with Cluster Services beginning at Hills Church at 7:30 p.m. The theme is “Jonah” which will be a very interesting and unique way of presenting the death and resurrection of Jesus. On Ash Wednesday we will have the imposition of ashes. The sermon will be delivered by Pastor Richard Lindsay-Bignell, Pastor of Trinity UCC, Delmont. Ladies we will need help with the Fellowship Hour after the service. Plan now to make this year observance of Lent special with your attendance.
You can make Lent special this year by attending the Bible Studies every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Bible Study will be covering the Lenten Theme of Jonah and will be a good preparation for the Wednesday Services. I also heard that there will be coffee, tea and donuts at the first Bible Study, Feb. 16th.
Sorry this was such a long letter, but there is a lot going on and I hope all of you can be a part of the activities.
