Emmanuel Church Update–October 3, 2013

Hello friends and members of Emmanuel Church,

We have a lot of exciting things going on that you need to be aware of.  This Friday, October 4th, starting at 6 p.m. will be a Girl’s Night for all girls 10 and up.  They will have pizza, play games,  and talk about postive role models for young women/girls.

Sunday, October 6th is Worldwide Communion Sunday.  We will be using the Order of Service of our Phillippine partner churches, so the service, for one weekend, will look a little bit different.  After worship we are having a ‘tail-gate party‘ in the Rev. Steele Building, so come on over and wear your favorite Pittsburgh team’s outfit.  We will begin collecting for the mitten, scarves and hats to be donated to the Salvation Army.

October 13th–CROP Walk–see one of our walkers to see how you can fight hunger, locally and elsewhere.

October 26th at 6 p.m. is Emmanuel’s First Ever “Trunk or Treat Party.”  Here’s how it works: the parking lot will be our venue for the trunk or treating, with various game stations around the church property.  Decorate your car, self, etc in your best Halloween Costume and park nose in.  Put some candy in a bowl in your trunk and we will send the kids around to “Trunk or Treat.”  Prizes will be awarded for best decorated car, best costume in adult and child categories.  Remember, nothing too scary!  This is family friendly.  Games (bobbing for apples, etc) are sponsored by the church.  Got it?  Any questions, see Pastor Joseph or Trista Lucas.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Joseph

Lord God, let us keep your Scriptures in mind and meditate on them day and night, persevering in prayer, always on watch. We beg you, Lord, to give us real knowledge of what we read and to show us not only how to understand it but how to put it into practice and to obtain spiritual grace enlightened by the law of the Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ our Lord, whose power and glory will endure throughout all ages. Amen.–Origen, 2nd Century Church Father.
